Dietitian Consultant

We are seeking a fun yet passionate Dietician to join our team.
The Dietician participates as a critical interdisciplinary team member and demonstrates knowledge of medical procedures, nutritional implications, and nutritional requirements to recommend therapeutic diets. Monitors nutrition screening, performs nutrition assessments, develops and implements nutrition care plans, provides periodic re-assessments to monitor therapy status, and educates patients on diet and nutrition issues based on the Nutrition Care Process.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Two plus years of hospital clinical experience
- Must be a Registered Dietitian upon hire
- Must have a current Dietitian License with the state upon hire
- B.A. or B.S. degree in Nutrition or related field
- Completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) approved dietetic internship or equivalent.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate Clinical Nutrition, and assist the FCNS Department, its programs, and activities by departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conducted nutritional screening, assessed patients’ nutritional status, assessed consultations, made appropriate recommendations, and educated clients and families on nutrition according to the standards of care using the Nutrition Care Process.
- Planned, developed, developed, implemented, for patients by initial RN or secondary RD screening. Provide nutrition education for postoperative care to patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Recommend appropriate feeding methods/formula or meal formulae based on identified patient needs and physician orders to increase patient comfort level and sustain patient nutritional needs.
- Review the patient’s diet, advise modification if necessary, and recognize and respond to changes in the patient’s condition and care needs.
- Thoroughly and accurately documents or dictates progress notes.
- Coordinates all patient dietary care needs with a multidisciplinary team, liaising with administration, medical, and nursing staff.
- Patient and counseling as needed.
- Review and approve the therapeutic and regular diet of the patients to ensure that they follow the PhysicPhysician’s.
- Research is current on dietary information and shared with the appropriate Physicians and staff.
- Is aware of and maintains appropriate infection control standards, safety, and quality in patient care. Adheres to infection control policies 100% of the time.
- Able to respond appropriately to emergency patient care situations such as Code Blue, etc.
- Demonstrate involvement in departmental quality assessment performance improvement through data collection, committees, task forces, and other PI projects and implement changes as needed.
- Budget for, manage, and maintain an appropriate nutrition formulary relevant to the patient population. Demonstrate concern for efficiency and cost-effectiveness in performing assigned duties and conserving supplies and equipment.
- Completes all documentation to support services and meet organizational, clinical, and reimbursement requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality (i.e., patient information, computer passwords, etc.) and demonstrates protection of patient rights as evidenced by compliance with policies related to informed consent, ethical issues, use of restraints, abuse and neglect, and resolution of patient complaints.
- Accurately inputs written/electronic data into hospital systems.
- Works autonomously and independently while maintaining positive relationships with medical, nursing, ancillary, and administration staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor/department director.
